For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to keepsakes. To the things we hold onto, not for their material worth, but for the meaning they carry. Keepsakes are more than objects — they’re vessels of memory, fragments of a moment, a place, or a feeling that we want to revisit again and again.
Where It All Began
My first keepsake wasn’t what you’d expect. At just four or five years old, I won second prize in a Kodak competition. First prize was a trip to Disneyland, but I was just as over the moon with my prize: a Kodak digital camera. In the ’90s, digital cameras were still relatively new, and I remember feeling so special to have one of my own. That camera became more than just a prize; it was the beginning of my love for preserving life through keepsakes. From that moment on, capturing memories became second nature to me. No matter what’s trending, I’ve always had an affinity for honouring time — saving it in ways that can be revisited and cherished.
Keepsakes in Many Forms
Over the years, I’ve come to see keepsakes not just in photographs, but in all the things I create:
- Clay Ornaments, moulded by hand, each one carrying the story of its making.
- Brass Heirlooms, designed to last, glowing with history even as they begin their journey now.
- Paintings, where colours and brushstrokes preserve emotions of a season that words can’t fully hold.
- Jewellery, wearable memory, crafted to keep a story close to the skin.
Each is a keepsake in its own right — not because it’s flawless, but because it holds meaning, beauty, and connection.
The Heart of It All
At the end of the day, I’m not bound to one label or craft. I’m an artist, a poet, a romantic. 🌙✨Keepsakes are the thread that ties everything together. Whether I’m painting, shaping clay, crafting heirlooms and jewellery, or photographing them, the intention is the same: to hold onto what matters. Not everything deserves to be kept, but the truly meaningful — the pieces that spark memory and connection — are worth cherishing.
The Journey Continues
My journey isn’t about following trends or chasing perfection. It’s about expansion. About exploring new ways to create keepsakes, to honour memory, and to connect with others who feel the same pull toward holding onto what matters.Because in the end, keepsakes aren’t just things. They’re stories. They’re love made tangible. And they remind us of who we are, where we’ve been, and the beauty we’ve lived along the way.
